The Rupay card which is powered by NPCI was recently launched in UAE by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. After successfully launching of the card in the Kingdome of Bhutan the card is now launched in UAE.
The Prime Minister said at the launch ceremony that the Indian government is focussed in making ease of doing business lot better in India. This also includes helping people efficiently transacting with the help of digital transactions. He added that the Rupay card is extremely popular in Singapore. He also said that the Rupay card will also be launched in Bahrain as well. The Indian diaspora will benefit heavily by use of Rupay cards. Indian travellers visiting nations like UAE, Bahrain, Bhutan and Singapore will be able to use their local cards at various international outlets.
A well-known Payment service provider in UAE is also adding Rupay cards to its POS Terminals. This will help around Hundred Thousand users accept these cards. The Prime minister also talked about the investment opportunities in Jammu & Kashmir as well as Leh Ladakh.
Mr Kamal Vachani Group Director of Al Maya Group said that they would immediately start accepting Rupay Cards on most of his outlets.
Residents of Nations like UAE, Bahrain, Singapore and Bhutan who visit India can easily use these Rupay cards(Issued by foreign issuers) in India.
